Foresight’s platform Povidone-Iodine (PVP-I) technology represents an important breakthrough in the treatment of ocular and otic inflammation including bacterial, viral and fungal infections. This platform enables PVP-I, a well-characterized broad spectrum antiseptic with no known microbial resistance, to be formulated in combination with a range of anti-inflammatory agents.
The company's lead product candidate FST-100 is being evaluated in clinical trials of adenoviral conjunctivitis. Adenoviral conjunctivitis is a highly contagious disease that affects more than 100 million people worldwide annually, and for which there are no approved therapies.
FST-100 targets the dual clinical needs of microbial eradication and reduction in inflammation associated with ocular infections. With best-in-class combination therapy potential, FST-100 is highly potent across a range of pathogens, and mediates inflammatory response without worsening or prolonging infection. The component that make up FST-100 have a long history of use and are familiar to physicians.
FST-201, a topical formulation of PVP-I and dexamethasone for otic application is currently in early stage development for a variety of otic indications.
